Disclosures

What this service is, and what a request does.

NewYorkForeclosureHelp.com connects New York homeowners with participating attorneys and firms. A request is routed by the county the property is in and the stage of the case; we work with many attorneys rather than one.

What we are and are not

This website is an attorney connection service. It is not a law firm, a government agency, a court, a housing counseling agency, or a mortgage lender or servicer. Website content is general information about New York foreclosure procedure and is not legal advice for your individual situation. Nothing on this site should be relied upon in place of advice from an attorney who knows your case.

Who is identified here

This site is operated as NewYorkForeclosureHelp.com. It is not a lawyer-referral service certified or operated by a bar association, and it is not associated with, approved by, or part of any government agency, court, or lender.

What you are charged

Nothing. Homeowners are not charged for a review or for submitting a request. If you later hire an attorney, the scope of representation and any legal fee are set out separately between you and that attorney. NewYorkForeclosureHelp.com does not rank participating attorneys, endorse one over another, or determine that a particular attorney is the right one for you.

What a free case review is, and any representation

The review is free to you. This site does not review your case; a participating attorney does. Submitting the form is a request to be contacted, not an agreement to hire anyone. An initial case evaluation with a participating attorney is free. Legal representation is a separate decision and a separate agreement between you and that attorney, and any fees must be discussed with the attorney directly. Using this site or submitting the form does not create an attorney-client relationship, does not guarantee that an attorney will take your case, and does not guarantee any outcome.

Deadlines and outcomes

Submitting a request does not pause a foreclosure, stop a scheduled sale, or extend any court deadline. If you have a court date, a settlement conference or a foreclosure sale approaching, seek legal help promptly and say so at the start of any conversation. An attorney can assess what options remain; no promise is made that a foreclosure will be stopped or delayed, and only your lender or servicer can approve a loan modification or other loss-mitigation option.

How a request is routed

Each request is forwarded to an intake service and then to one participating New York attorney or firm determined by the property's county and the foreclosure stage; this site does not recommend, rank, or endorse any attorney and is not a lawyer-referral service. The stage you choose on the form is the only qualification asked on the page. Contact is by phone call, text message or email, by a person. See the privacy notice for what is collected and how it is used.

Even if you speak with a participating attorney, your lender may not agree to change your loan, and no one can promise that a foreclosure will be stopped.

Free help that does not depend on this site

New York homeowners can reach HUD-approved housing counseling agencies and the New York State Attorney General's Homeowner Protection Program, 1-855-466-3456, at no cost. The county pages list the agencies located in each county. Using them and requesting a case review here are not alternatives; many homeowners do both.

Accuracy of court and agency information

Court addresses, part contacts, auction locations and agency listings are read from the publishing organisation's own pages on the date shown on each county page and can change without notice. Confirm with the court before you travel. How the facts are checked and how to report an error is on the verification page.
